 Aston Villa V Manchester City

Aston Villa face Manchester City this Sunday with both teams in interesting positions. Manchester City have began to find a bit of form, having won four games on the bounce, but at the same time it’s difficult to truly be confident they’ll beat this Villa side. With Aston Villa sitting just outside the relegation zone at 17th and with 21 points, they’ll be desperate for results. Villa managed to keep City out for 45 minutes at the Etihad earlier this season, but all that good work was undone within a minute of the second half when Raheem Sterling put the home side ahead. From that moment City controlled the game and ended up winning the game 3-0.

As if this game wouldn’t already pose a challenge for Villa it was recently confirmed that first-choice striker Wesley and first-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton have been ruled out for the remainder of the season. Despite Manchester City’s leaky backline I believe this game poses as an opportunity for them to get a clean sheet as Villa don’t have a reliant goal threat and their main man who can score and create, Jack Grealish, may struggle to take control of that midfield area with City possessing the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Rodri and Gundogan.

City are on another level, especially in midfield, which Villa simply cannot match or better. I think that Villa will defend well at times, like they did recently against Leicester, but City will force Villa to do a lot of running making the midfield all the more bypassable which I believe will allow them to coast through.

A 2-0 win looks appealing.
