Our service has been delivering knowledgeable, authoritative and high-quality views, advice and information for over 50 years – hallmarked by the production and publication of a series of books which continue to be viewed as crucial sources of guidance by racing enthusiasts and professionals alike.

DARK HORSES BOOKS
Marten Julian’s Dark Horse publications are now in their fifth decade of publication and are widely admired as ideal companions with which to start and complement your research for forthcoming seasons for the Flat and/or National Hunt codes. And we have enhanced our portfolio in the last four years with the introduction of a second book for the jumps season written by Jodie Standing, which focuses exclusively upon horses stepping up to running under Rules from the point-to-point scene.
THE WEEKEND CARD
Published: Every Wednesday
Featuring articles by Marten Julian, Jodie Standing, Ian Carnaby, Dan Briden & Ronan Groome, The Weekend Card has become a stablemate for racing enthusiasts across the UK.
The feedback we receive from our clients confirms just how valued these widely and deeply-researched books are in preparation for any new season, whilst we also fully acknowledge the importance our clients place on continuity in our work. Consequently, our weekly publication – The Weekend Card – not only covers the pivotal action of each week’s sport but also details the latest news, views and updates on key horses featured in our various books.

The Two-Year-Old Guide
Published: now (back catalogue available)
Following the success and positive feedback of our 2020 and 2021 editions, we were thrilled to publish a third edition of The Two-Year-Old Guide.
Dan Briden interviewed dozens of the country’s leading and lower-profile trainers, bloodstock agents and owners, to learn what they have to say about their current crop of two-year-olds.
A 400-page book (including index) enhanced with photographs.
We are not able to produce a 2023 edition but are thrilled to include Dan as a contributor to our Weekend Card.
THE POINT-TO-POINT RECRUITS
Written by Jodie Standing the Racing Post said “Standing broke new ground with the first edition of this book in 2018/19”
Since then The Point-To-Point Recruits has established itself as an essential tool to get ahead of the game.
Jodie leaves no stone unturned in her research and has once again found plenty of hidden gems which can have a fruitful career under Rules for their new connections next season.

Strictly Classified – Insights into the trainers mind
“By the end of the book, whether you’re a serious punter or simply a lover of horses, you cannot help but be more intrigued about the methods employed by trainers and the secrets of the thoroughbred. After more than 40 years dedicated to horseracing and with no sign of his enthusiasm waning, Julian has produced an impressive piece of work that comes strictly recommended.”
