Villa starting to click now

I shan’t let Cardiff’s late equaliser against Sheffield Wednesday last week obscure the fact that I was a long way wide of the mark when suggesting that Watford could give Manchester City a game. They were completely outclassed and if anyone needed reminding that there are two or three separate leagues within the Premier, this should have done the trick.

Southampton looked strong in midfield and defence at Crystal Palace but the problems up front persist. Palace had two close-range chances to save the game and should have done so; Roy Hodgson will probably turn them round as the weeks go by, although the league table may make grim reading for a while yet. Manchester United should prove too strong for the Saints at St Mary’s but it may be closer than the betting suggests and I wouldn’t be involved here.

In fact I don’t like anything in the top section but ASTON VILLA are starting to look like a force to be reckoned with (and about time too) in the Championship and I believe they may prove too strong for Forest in the televised game on Saturday evening. Albert Adomah was always a good player for Bristol City and can prove the key man here.
The betting game is all about value and I’m taking a punt on Fulham to get their season started at home to Boro. This will be hard but the Cottagers looked the real deal last term and should have won the play-offs. Slow to pick up this time around, they were very ordinary against Burton last week but have always been ‘homers’ and this game should fire them up. I’m not wild about the prices on offer but I suppose the 11/8 with Betway is bearable.

Norwich are coming into a bit of form and the game against Bristol City – very much on the up at present but not a team to back with confidence – looks intriguing. It seems highly likely that both teams will go for it from the outset and I expect them both to score. A shade of odds-on would be acceptable.

ASTON VILLA 20 units at 5/6 Betway or 4/5 otherwise to beat Nottm Forest
FULHAM 15 units at 11/8 Betway or 13/10 widely elsewhere to beat Middlesbrough
Norwich v Bristol City 20 units Both Teams To Score at best price available
