Poli Roi Top Class Prospect
February 21st, 2017 | Marten's Current Racing Diary
The best young prospect I saw running over the weekend was in the closing bumper at Navan on Sunday.
The word was out that Gordon Elliott had an exciting prospect in Poli Roi, who was hammered in the betting market from around 4/7 to 2/7. When they pile in at such short odds they seldom get beat, and this son of Poliglote won on the bridle by two lengths with a ton in hand.
Bought for £300,000 at Cheltenham in November after winning a point-to-point at Rockfield in November by 10 lengths, this half-brother to seven winners will miss Cheltenham and has every chance of becoming a top-class hurdler before chasing. He is very exciting.
Bye for now
