Livepool can land a major blow

October 14th, 2016 | Ian Carnaby's Sports News

This is another weekend when bookmakers will be looking to tempt people with accumulators involving the Premier League’s top teams. Arsenal should account for Swansea, Manchester City look too good for Everton and Tottenham may have the edge over West Brom, reluctant though I am to include an away team.

At that point I’d be looking at Norwich to beat Rotherham and Newcastle to defeat Brentford in the Championship. I prefer them to Stoke at home to Sunderland and Southampton who play hosts to Burnley. Of all of these games, I think NORWICH are the bankers, though 4/11 is worryingly short.

I’m not really into combination bets because the odds are too tight, though I can see that any number of new, young punters will be attracted. This is why television advertisements are geared that way. The problem is that one team invariably falls short and in this instance I’d be worried that Tottenham will have their progress checked by West Brom, who have looked the part in their last couple of games.

All in all, I prefer to wait for Monday and the 6/5 about Liverpool proving too good for Manchester United. Jurgen Klopp is gradually shaping the home team the way he wants and everyone can see how dangerous Sadio Mane looks already. Jose Mourinho may work the oracle at Old Trafford but it will take time and they may be under intense pressure in this game.

Given the way the two teams have performed so far, the odds are more a reflection of close encounters in the past than current form.

LIVERPOOL are the team with the potential match winners in their ranks and Mane and Adam Lallana could hardly be in better form. Personally I think Paul Pogba will eventually prove an excellent signing for United and there are other obvious goalscorers in the ranks but their defence does not look watertight and that may prove fatal on Monday. The layers have also underestimated ground advantage and I would not be offering Liverpool at odds against in this match.

LIVERPOOL 25 units at 6/5 to beat Manchester United
