Frantically planning for Jumps

Well it is that time of year again when I find myself frantically planning the next six months as we prepare our brochure for the forthcoming season.

I try to recall all the lovely conversations I have had with clients and their feedback and then I go through the client records reading them for feedback.

I dream up amazing new services and a whole office full of staff fulfilling their orders like it used to be back in the day. However things are different now, we are a very close little team. If you follow me on Twitter you may have seen some of the new staff photographs we have had done. Out of the pictures three of them were of Julian girls. There is myself and my two younger sisters Tasha and Hannah. Although neither work full time they both help out when busy. This summer they have been here most of the time which has been lovely. Then there is my husband Steve who does the graphic design and most of the marketing. He works elsewhere full-time but that works for us as so much of our work is required outside the normal 9-5 working hours. Actually after typing that I wonder are they the normal working hours anymore? I certainly don’t have normal working hours and neither does Marten. We have a new addition this year called Juliet – some of you have had the pleasure of speaking with her on the phone. She helps sort out the finances and brings me lovely snacks and hot soup in the cold winter months. When we are manic busy that is a dream come true for me.

We don’t often add new services to our portfolio as we have been in business so long we have our staple products that we are known for and clients have always appeared happy with this. However, as technology advances, I have started to notice that clients want things a little bit quicker. We offer most services as a download on our website but Marten has been keen to make more of text messages.

We approached our clients and asked them to take part in a survey which had some really interesting results. It turns out that the majority of our clients following throughout the week not just at weekends. I had incorrectly assumed the majority would follow at weekends and major meetings.

We designed a service called The Racing Snapshot and clients who took part in the survey received a free trial to the service. It went well and we received feedback following the first day’s trial which Marten acted on and hopefully improved the service for day two.

This service has been developed for days when Marten has information but not enough to warrant the publication of an Online Preview.

The service is now live although not quite as automated as I would like as it currently still requies a lot of administration time but as I research options this will change. Our aim is that clients can subscribe to a text message list which means they will receive a text message notification when an edition is available and they can pay using their mobile phone or our website. They will then receive the information by text the next day.
