Epsom Derby & Oaks Online Preview

We are fast approaching my favourite, and historically, most successful meeting of the year.

Epsom may not be to everyone’s taste, but my record since I first started to go racing there in my teens has been better than for any other meeting of the season.

This year’s Derby looks open and intriguing. As I write running plans are still uncertain, notably for the O’Brien and Godolphin teams with the draw likely to play a part in a big field. It would not surprise me if the Oaks did not, in the fullness of time, prove to be the better race of the two.

The great benefit of the Online Preview is that I am able to take every factor into account.

As you know over the years this has been my most successful meeting of the year, with our first Online Preview in 2013 making a vast level stakes profit thanks to Arctic Feeling 25/1, Vainglory 12/1, Ruler Of The World 7/1, Resurge 6/1 and Well Acquainted 4/1. In 2014 we struck again with the Oaks/Derby double on Taghrooda and Australia and in 2015 I found Code Red 14/1, Stravagante 7/2 and Al Bandar 3/1.

On Oaks day I expect to have something for the closing three-year-old handicap and my strongest news, subject to going, is from one of my longest-standing contacts for the opening handicap on Derby day.
