COLCHESTER APPEAL ON VERY QUIET LEAGUE WEEKEND

October 7th, 2016 | Ian Carnaby's Sports News

We enjoyed another winning week with Tottenham beating Manchester City most impressively and underlining their own title claims although, as I have said from the start, much will depend on how long their respective Champions League challenges go on.

I believe the title means more to Mauricio Pochettino than anything else and I have little doubt he will bring it to the White Hart Lane faithful in the near future, though whether it will be this season remains to be seen. Personally I think Liverpool will be more of a threat than Manchester City, whose defence without the brittle Vincent Kompany may not stand the rigours of a long and demanding campaign.

I do not tip or bet in international matches so it will be a quiet weekend. On everything we have seen so far this term, Newport County are in danger of slipping back whence they came and we can assume COLCHESTER will find them a shade easier meat than Southampton’s highly promising U21 outfit in midweek.

It’s all in the value, of course, and I wouldn’t want to play at hefty odds-on. However, there is some 20/21 about the U’s with Betfred and it’s not hard to find 10/11 elsewhere at present. They are the only bet over the weekend.
