Back In The Lakes

July 15th, 2016 | Marten's Current Racing Diary

It’s good to be back north in the Lakes after a few days in Esher.

I paid a visit to Sandown on Thursday evening and came away with a couple of horses for the Weekend Card, which makes a welcome return next week.

As for today I thought that Dutch Destiny won at Haydock in the manner of a progressive colt. William Haggas brings horses of this type along steadily and the colt was always in control of this 6f 0-85, handling the soft ground well. Successful here off 83, I expect him to be raised about 7lb to 90. He can win again.

Mokarris lived up to the quality of his homework when winning the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes by two and three-quarter lengths from Nobly Born. He looks the right type for the Gimcrack or Middle Park Stakes.

Bye for now
