Aidan O’Brien’s Success Continues

August 28th, 2016 | Marten's Current Racing Diary

I was pleased to see Opal Tiara win the Group 3 Supreme Stakes at Goodwood this afternoon.

I have always had a fondness for this filly, who has run some very gutsy races in her time despite occasionally being raced a little above her class. There was a moment entering the final furlong today when she looked beaten, but I knew she would keep battling and it was that tenacity which won her the day.

Opal Tiara has now won a Group 3 to go with her Listed win and I would not be surprised to see her win again if she can be kept on the fast ground that suits her.

There’s no stopping Aidan O’Brien at the moment and he picked up the two big races at the Curragh with Somehow and Intelligence Cross.

The former won the Group 3 Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes by a widening seven lengths while Intelligence Cross allayed her trainer’s fears that he would need the race by beating the useful Holy Cat by four and a quarter lengths in the Group 3 Round Tower Stakes. The Middle Park now beckons for the son of War Front.

Other news and Aidan O’Brien says that Caravaggio has pulled a muscle in his ribcage and may not be ready for the Middle Park.

Bye for now
