Ronan Groome writes
An excellent weekend of racing awaits on both sides of the Irish Sea and of course the English Channel with the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe headlining a Group 1-laden card at ParisLongchamp. There is nothing quite like the Arc, the crescendo to the European turf season, and while this year’s renewal lacks an obvious star contender, it’s intriguing for how competitive it is, which makes for a fine betting heat also. With all that said, I can near guarantee you that if you asked any Irish general racing fan what they are looking forward to most this weekend, they’d point to the PWC Champion Chase in Gowran Park and trio of Grade 3 races on Sunday which may potentially host a couple of well known winter stars making their return to action. Each of their own of course, and don’t get me wrong, I’m very much looking forward to jump racing’s imminent return, but like I’ve written before, there is so much still to play for on the level with British Champions Day and Breeders’ Cup still to come. Of course, it’s very possible to just enjoy them all, which we will do and hopefully bet a couple of winners along the way.
