One of the most popular sections in the Card is Marten’s Sleeper Section. It would be something of a surprise if the winner of the 6f maiden at Haydock on Thursday afternoon (2.10) doesn’t head to the Coventry Stakes next month.

Saeed Bin Suroor’s Banndar comes here after a debut fifth in one of the hottest novice events of the season so far at Ascot, while David Loughnane’s Maxi King showed promise when runner-up on his recent debut at Nottingham. Both set a useful standard for the newcomers to aim at.

However, there are several interesting unraced sorts…
