Description

The Dark Horses underwent a slight rebrand in 2019 when Marten felt the title “Dark Horses Companion” was better to describe the book.

It is produced in a more succinct format than before. Our usual features appear again but the Classic Previews, now called Classic Contenders, are produced in a more accessible note-style format.

You may prefer the Dark Horses Annual (Enhanced) which includes a PDF copy of the book as well as access to a webpage where entries are listed throughout the whole season for just £5!

The Dark Horses series of books, first produced in 1976, are widely recognised and respect as the authoritative source of information about unexposed and unraced talent.

Update: out September

Marten is currently working on the Dark Horses Update Guide, packed with gems for the closing weeks of the season and updated comments on the four specialist sections of the Dark Horses Annual, including the popular Premier List and Dark Handicappers. Marten will also provide insights into a few lightly-raced and unraced two-year-olds for the back end of the turf season winter and the increasingly popular All-Weather campaign. The Dark Horses Update Guide will be out in early October.

Contents

The Dark Horses Companion contains:

The Premier List – Marten’s select analysis of horses to follow
The Dark Horses – unexposed or unraced horses that have been brought to Marten’s attention
The Dark Handicappers – unexposed horses that may have been let in lightly
The Classic Contenders – Marten’s succinct appraisal of the candidates, some less obvious than others, for the first four Classics

Monitor entries

For just an additional £5 you can choose to order this book in an enhanced format.

The enhanced format will give you access to a secret web page that lists entries for horses featured in the book for just £5 for the whole Flat season.

The page is updated twice a week.
