Meeting details

Newmarket July Meeting

Thursday 11th July to Saturday 13th July

A great three days of action on the July Course, when the highlight is the July Cup won last year by Shaquille. Other top races include a host of Group 2 events for two-year-olds, the mile-and-a-half Arqana Princess of Wales’s Stakes and the Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes over a mile for fillies.

Thatched-roofed buildings and tree-lined public areas, with open-air bars, make the July course a delightful summer venue. The meeting has a garden-party atmosphere and like the other major British meetings, there is a strong sense of fashion.

Ascot King George Meeting

Friday 26th July and Saturday 27th July

The feature race of this great weekend is the QIPCO King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes – which stands alongside the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe as one of Europe’s all-aged middle-distance championship races. Perhaps most famously, the 1975 edition was dubbed ‘The Race of The Century’ after Derby winner Grundy beat his courageous rival Bustino in a time of 2min 26.98sec – a record that still stands today.

There is also a top-class supporting card, including the ultra-competitive Gigaset International Handicap, the Group 3 Juddmonte Princess Margaret Stakes for two-year-old fillies and the highly-prized ladies’ race.

Marten made a lovely profit last year thanks to 11/1 winner Rosallion and an each-way second from just five selections, a return over the two days of 106%.

Glorious Goodwood Meeting

Tuesday 30th July to Saturday 3rd August

Top-class racing, beautiful scenery and a marvellous atmosphere combine to make the course’s showpiece five-day meeting one of the highlights of the racing year.

The racing is highly competitive across the full range of distances, from the Goodwood Cup for stayers to the Stewards’ Cup for sprint handicappers. There are two Group 1 races – the Sussex Stakes and Nassau Stakes – while the leading juveniles get their chance in the     highly informative trial for the St Leger.

Glorious Goodwood has retained a quintessential British charm since the course was first laid out in 1801.

The idiosyncrasies of the course present their own unique challenges for the serious backer, but Marten did well for his subscribers last season, yielding a 67% profit thanks to Johan at 25/1 and Executive Decision at 9/1 and others besides.

 York Ebor Meeting

Wednesday 21st August to Saturday 24th August

Known as ‘the Ascot of the north’, York offers the same mixture of top-class racing and eye-catching fashion at its showpiece Ebor meeting. Hugely popular with owners, trainers, jockeys and racegoers alike, York always attracts the best horses for a packed three-day programme.

The highlight is the Group 1 Juddmonte International Stakes. The Group 1 Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes, run over the straight five furlongs, is one of the main battlegrounds for the European sprint crown, while the Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks brings together many of the leading three-year-old fillies over the classic mile-and-a-half distance.

The meeting also features the Ebor – Britain’s richest handicap – over a mile and three-quarters.

Newmarket Cambridgeshire Meeting

Thursday 26th September to Saturday 28th September

The Cambridgeshire meeting marks the return to the Rowley Mile racecourse for the big autumn events and offers compelling racing at one of Britain’s best and most historic venues.

Quality is the watchword on all three days. Thursday features the Group 1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes over six furlongs, one of the major end-of-season championship races for two-year-old fillies. The card also includes the Group 3 Somerville Stakes, another well-established race for the leading juveniles, run over seven furlongs.

The Cambridgeshire is a race that will set your pulse racing, and Friday includes a Group One race from the British Champions Series – a prestigious programme of races designed to showcase the best of the best.

Marten had a brilliant meeting last year, yielding a 156% profit thanks to three winners from six selections – Tregony 10/1, Ranger Thunderbolt 5/1 and Ghostwriter 0/30.

Newmarket Future Champions Meeting

Friday 11th October and Saturday 12th October

The fixture provides British racing with an opportunity to showcase the best two-year-old horses from Britain just a week before the older horses do battle for end of season honours on British Champions Day at Ascot.

The racing mainly comprises the emerging stars of the sport from the generation of horses aged just two, with nine Group races over the two days. They are the future, but they are also very much about the here and now, too. Indeed, for some, reputations are made on this day, whereas for others it is a stepping stone to greatness in seasons to come.

Ascot Champions Day

Saturday 19th October

British Champions Day is the culmination of the European Flat racing season and the British Champions Series. Over £3 million in prize money is on offer across the final races in each of the five QIPCO British Champions Series categories, presenting a fantastic opportunity for the season’s equine stars and their owners, together with the top trainers and jockeys, to achieve sporting immortality on Ascot’s historic turf.

This programme features the end-of-season championship races for a variety of distances. In 2011 the mighty Frankel, the world’s best racehorse, maintained his unbeaten record with a breathtaking triumph in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes and the following year returned to sign off his illustrious and still unbeaten career in the Champion Stakes in front of a sell-out crowd of 32,000.
